The start of something new.

January 1st, 2012-My fianc√© Dave baptized me at Two Rivers Church. It was a powerful moment and very emotional. I have been drawing closer and closer to God ever since I met Dave. His love and fear of God was something that I admired and that I wanted in my own life. Now, after a little more than a year and a half I have finally been baptized. And to top it all off, Dave, the man who has taught me and guided me in this process, was the one to dunk me! WOW! God is good ūüôā

Baptism is a symbol of my faith in Christ and it is displayed publicly for everyone to witness. It is a symbol that the old is gone and I am NEW in Christ. It is an amazing way to start this new year.

For Dave and I this baptism represented something even more. We strive to make our relationship centered around Christ. Having Dave baptize me was a way to publicly display that our relationship is rooted in Christ. We want our relationship to be about something more than our feelings. Something more than just us. We want our marriage to showcase the gospel to those around us.

Praying

Our main goal for our relationship and marriage is to live our lives in a way that when people look at us as a couple- they see Christ. They see God’s love, forgiveness, grace, peace, freshness, honesty, patience, goodness, and gentleness.

Here is a VIDEO of Dave baptizing me :).

Find: YOUR loving way 2 LOVE.

This is what marriage COULD lead to.

Any relationship is difficult with its opinions, viewpoints, and necessities. My prayer is that Kari and I can hold a relationship based on continual love- divorce is not an option.
The first love poem reads as follows,
“‘At last!’ Adam exclaimed. “She is part of my own flesh and bone! She will be called ‘woman,’ because she was taken out of man.'” (Genesis 2:23)
Adam & Eve were united as one. BUT, as soon as trouble came (the fall in Genesis 3) the egg started to CRACK and Adam blamed Eve for her mistake. As soon as harsh words and blame come into the relationship, turmoil rises. Harsh words, blame, and related actions is pride.
MORE PRIDE= LESS LOVE we need LESS PRIDE to produce MORE LOVE
Kari and I try to better ourselves every day by lessening pride and showing greater love.
This is what marriage SHOULD lead to.

Sharing everything in life. Laughing through every moment. Lifting each other to God. And loving God every second.¬†Here’s an¬†IDEAL¬†model¬†of love:
1 John 3:16, “We know what real love is because Christ gave up his life for us. And so ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† we also ought to give up our lives‚Ķ”
Did Jesus say, “NO, NO, NO, I am not going to die on that piece of wood” ? Of course not.
So we, OUGHT to love each other and give up our lives, continually.
What does that look like in relationships?
Is it going to buy a diet coke when she REALLY wants one?
Is it throwing away your pride when you KNOW you are right?
Is it pulling out a book when you know she is running LATE?
Find your loving way to love & do it always.
